Markus Gerschberger is professor for supply chain management at University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria and heads the research group “Supply Chain Management” at Logistikum Steyr. Professor Gerschberger holds a Doctorate in Social Sciences from the Vienna University of Economics. Since 2008, Dr. Gerschberger has headed the research field of Supply Chain Design with project volumes in excess of €2.5 million. He has research interests in the development of systematic methods to identify the most important partners (suppliers and customers) in the supply chain and the most important individual and organizational capabilities to stay competitive under fast changing environmental conditions. Dr. Gerschberger has also extensively researched in the areas of supply chain complexity, risk and resilience. He has more than 40 publications in refereed journals, books and conference proceedings. He was honored in 2013 with Emerald’s highly commended paper award and as first-runner up for the Austrian Logistics price. In 2011, he was awarded as young researcher of the year of the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria.

Logistikum Steyr is the largest research competence center in the area of logistics and supply chain management in Austria with more than €5 million ($ 6.5 million) in research funds.
