Katharina Diedrich started her scientific career studying mechanical engineering at the Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany, and continued this with external doctoral studies at Technical University of Dortmund, Germany, and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

Her research focus lies on the research field of supply chain risk management in the automobile industry, which is characterized by a high dependency on supply chain performance, fast changing conditions and a high level of purchased product specification.
