Clare Brindley is Head of Research and Professor of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the University of Derby.  She previously worked at  Nottingham Trent,  Central  Lancashire and Manchester Metropolitan Universities. Prior to her academic career, Clare worked in industrial and service organisations as a marketing manager. She is an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and has served as a Trustee/Director of the Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship and Nottingham Women’s Centre.

Her research is multi-disciplinary and has two central themes the small business sector and also supply chain risk. Clare is a founder of ISCRiM (the International Supply Chain Risk Management network) and in 2004 edited the first ISCRiM book “Supply Chain Risk” published by Ashgate Publishing Ltd. Her work has been funded by the ESRC, the British Academy, the DTI, the Academy of Marketing and the European Social Fund. She has published widely in journals such as the International Journal of Operations and Production Management, International Journal Agile Supply Management, International Journal of Operations and Production Management, European Journal of Innovation Management, International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Research, Journal of Small Business Management and the International Journal of Retail and Distribution Management.  Clare’s paper’s have been chosen by Emerald for their reading lists of top 50 publications in both the Logistics and Supply Chain and the Intellectual Underpinnings of Entrepreneurial Small Business categories. She is also an editorial board member of several leading publications. Her work has been presented at international conferences including the British Academy of Management and the Academy of Marketing. Currently she is undertaking research on the impact of sustainability on the SME supply chain and the impact of gender on marketing careers.
